You may have heard the news—The Sound of Music is celebrating its 60th anniversary! It’s hard to believe that six decades have gone by, yet the film continues to embrace each new generation as if time stands still.
I have so many cherished memories from making the movie, and I’m grateful to have been old enough to recall them so vividly. To celebrate this milestone in a meaningful way, I wanted to create something truly special.
That’s when I had a dream… it was about Edelweiss… that beautiful flower that grows wild in the Alps. That’s when I reached out to Michael Michaud, a jewelry artist whose exquisite craftsmanship I’ve admired for years. His work is featured in some of the world’s finest museums, galleries, and specialty boutiques.
Michael’s artistry is unique, he casts his jewelry using molds made directly from botanical elements, much like the lost-wax casting process. By using real flowers and leaves, he captures their delicate beauty in breathtaking detail. And so, from this incredible technique, the Edelweiss Collection was born. Michael has perfectly captured the gentle essence of my favorite flower. The pointed petals, kissed with white gold, surround a luminous Austrian crystal set in 24k gold. This piece is truly special—not only does it complement any color, but it also embodies the warmth and purity of the real edelweiss: noble and strong, just like the beloved film that has touched so many hearts.
I invite you to explore the Edelweiss Collection. Each piece is available individually, but I’ve also created an exclusive Brown Paper Package—a celebration in itself. Inside, you’ll find a concertina book I designed, filled with vintage behind-the-scenes photos from filming, along with a beautiful Edelweiss lapel pin, available only in this package.
